Japan wanted to prove they can make awesome guitars. Same thing happened with the Japanese made guitars in the 1980s. Are you going to put pride into everything you build? Of course you will! And they did! A richer country comes up to you and puts a factory in your country. Imagine being an up and coming country with something to prove. Let me just focus on this guitar.Īnyways, Korea had a chip on their shoulder. Had I known this, I would have invested heavily into Korean stock. What does this mean? Well, in the early 2000s, Korea was the up and coming country. So this guitar is designed in Japan, but made in Korea. Price? Dollar for dollar, this was one of the best guitars ever released. They’re mediocre, but after you get good pickups in there, the guitar’s the right weight with excellent woods, so the guitar sounds fantastic with good pickups!

Sound? Like I said in the bad, get those stock pickups replaced. Thus, their cuisine is my second favorite. There’s beauty in simplicity and that’s something the Japanese get. Well, I pretty much only do two things with my whammy bar – vibrato and dive bomb. Some folks may not like it because it can dive bomb but it doesn’t really come up very well. Your vibratos and bends will be very pronounced.ĭo you love to dive bomb? Well, the tremolo is only a Floyd Rose licensed system. It’s fast as hell and you can articulate every single note.Ĭan you play sweet vibratos and do you love to bend? Then you’ll love this guitar. Can you fly on the guitar? If so, you’ll love the Ibanez RGT42. That sums up everything wrong with the guitar. However, I’ll just keep those Seymour Duncans for my next guitar that needs pickups since I love whatever these things are. I don’t know what they are, but they sound fantastic! I bought Seymour Duncans to put in this guitar. This one you see, I bought used and someone replaced the stock pickups with whatever these are. I replaced them with Seymour Duncans and the guitar sounded fabulous! The first RGT42 I owned had stock pickups. Not even in the same ballpark.Īnyways, I finally found one I liked online and had it shipped to the local music store. I didn’t know that Gibson’s had deteriorated in quality and they were nothing like the outstanding Gibson’s of old. So I sold my RGT42 and bought a Gibson SG. I had the dumb idea that I had to play a Gibson SG since I no longer wanted to be known as a shredder.
